Abstract: Adds two ex officio members affiliated with the La. District Attorneys Association  to
the council of the La. State Law Institute.
Present law provides for the La. State Law Institute as an official advisory law revision commission,
law reform agency, and legal research agency of the state of La.  Provides that the governing body
of the La. State Law Institute is a council composed of elected members and members who hold
certain offices and members who are appointed by certain persons. Proposed law retains present law.
Proposed law adds the executive director of the La. District Attorneys Assoc. (LDAA) and the
president of the LDAA or a district attorney designated by the president of the LDAA as ex officio
members to the council of the La. State Law Institute.

Summary of Amendments Adopted by House
The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on House and Governmental
Affairs to the original bill:
1. Remove the proposed addition of two district attorneys appointed by the president of the
La. District Attorneys Assoc. as ex officio members of the law institute.
2. Add authorization for the president of the La. District Attorneys Assoc. to designate a
district attorney to serve in his stead.
