HB 249 Original 2016 Regular Session	Carmody
Abstract: Amends the certification requirements relative to regional notification centers.
Present law requires the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections (DPS&C) to promulgate
rules and regulations in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act to establish a
certification program for regional notification centers in this state.
Present law requires the rules and regulations promulgated by DPS&C to include
requirements enumerated by present law. Proposed law clarifies that the requirements are
for the purposes of promoting cost effectiveness, ease of use, safety, and the protection of
property, workmen, and citizens from damage, injury, and death. Proposed law adds
specifically defined geopolitical services areas that are coterminous with parish boundaries
and do not overlap any other defined service area to the nonexclusive list of requirements
imposed on the rules and regulations relative to the certification of regional notification
centers.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
(Amends R.S. 40:1749.18(B)(intro. para.) and (4); Adds 40:1749.18(B)(5))
