Abstract: Amends the certification requirements relative to regional notification centers.
Present law requires the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections (DPS&C) to promulgate rules and
regulations in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act to establish a certification program
for regional notification centers in this state.
Present law requires the rules and regulations promulgated by DPS&C to include requirements
enumerated by present law.  Proposed law clarifies that the requirements are for the purposes of
promoting cost effectiveness, ease of use, safety, and the protection of property, workmen, and
citizens from damage, injury, and death.  Proposed law adds specifically defined geopolitical services
areas that are coterminous with parish boundaries and do not overlap any other defined service area
to the nonexclusive list of requirements imposed on the rules and regulations relative to the
certification of regional notification centers.  Proposed law clarifies that the provisions of proposed
law shall apply only to certain  regional notification centers as identified in present law (R.S.
40:1749.12).
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
(Amends R.S. 40:1749.18(B)(intro. para.) and (4); Adds 40:1749.18(B)(5))
