RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 545 (HB 335) 2016 Regular Session Schexnayder Existing law requires each applicant applying for a license to operate an unmanned aerial system in the course of an agricultural commercial operation to complete an agricultural education and safety training course administered by the La. cooperative extension service. New law adds the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center as an entity that may administer the agricultural education and safety training course. New law authorizes the commissioner to establish, by rule, a registration fee for each unmanned aerial system not to exceed $100. Requires the rule be adopted in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act (APA). New law authorizes the commissioner to establish an agricultural education and safety training course fee not to exceed $50, payable to the LSU Agricultural Center or the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center for conducting the agricultural education and safety training course required in existing law. Requires the rule be adopted in accordance with the APA. Effective August 1, 2016. (Amends R.S. 3:43(A)(2); Adds R.S. 3:48)
