COURTS/DISTRICT: Authorizes certain district courts to establish reentry courts
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 13:5401(C)(10), (11), and (12), relative to reentry courts; to authorize the
3 creation of a reentry division of the Fourteenth, Twenty-First, and Thirty-Second
4 Judicial District Courts; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 13:5401(C)(10), (11), and (12) are hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง5401. District courts; reentry courts; subject matter

9 C. The following district courts may assign certain divisions of the court as
10 a reentry division of court in accordance with the provisions of this Section:

12 (10) The Fourteenth Judicial District Court.
13 (11) The Thirty-Second Judicial District Court.
14 (12) The Twenty-First Judicial District Court.

Abstract: Authorizes the 14th, 21st, and 32nd JDC to develop a reentry division of court.
Present law authorizes the 1st JDC, 11th JDC, 15th JDC, 19th JDC, 22nd JDC, 24th JDC,
25th JDC, 26th JDC, and the Criminal District Court for the parish of Orleans to create a

reentry division which would be responsible for developing a workforce development
sentencing program with specific qualifications and requirements.
Proposed law authorizes the 14th JDC, 21st JDC, and the 32nd JDC to establish a reentry
division of court.
