APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of judgment against
the DOTD in the matter of "James J. Mire, et al v. Shonna M. Orgeron, et al"
1 AN ACT
2To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2016-
3 2017 to be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit entitled "James J. Mire,
4 Jessica Jeblonski and Michelle Blanchard v. Shonna M. Orgeron, Progressive
5 Casualty Insurance Company, Entergy Corporation, Lafourche Parish Government
6 and State of Louisiana, Department of Transportation and Development"; and to
7 provide for related matters.
8Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9 Section 1. The sum of Fifty Thousand and No/100 ($50,000.00) Dollars is hereby
10appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 to
11be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit entitled "James J. Mire, Jessica Jeblonski and
12Michelle Blanchard v. Shonna M. Orgeron, Progressive Casualty Insurance Company,
13Entergy Corporation, Lafourche Parish Government and State of Louisiana, Department of
14Transportation and Development", bearing Number C-123871 on the docket of the
15Seventeenth Judicial District Court, parish of Lafourche, state of Louisiana.
16 Section 2. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2016; if vetoed by the governor
17and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
182016, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.
