TRANSPORTATION: Renews the Freight Railroad Intermodal Grant Program
1 AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 48:388.1(C) and to repeal R.S. 48:388.1(B), relative to rail; to
3 repeal a provision authorizing the Freight Railroad Intermodal Grant Program to
4 begin by a certain date and to continue for a certain period of time; to authorize
5 certain funds to be used for the Freight Railroad Intermodal Program; and to provide
6 for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 48:388.1(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
9 ยง388.1. Freight Railroad Intermodal Grant Program

11 C. No Transportation Trust Fund money shall monies may be used for this
12 program.

14 Section 2. R.S. 48:388.1(B) is hereby repealed in its entirety.

Present law provides for the Freight Railroad Intermodal Grant Program (program) within
the Dept. of Transportation and Development.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law requires the program to be implemented not later than Jan. 1, 1998, for a 10-year
period and to be evaluated at the end of that period.
Proposed law repeals present law.
Present law prohibits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies for the grant program.
Proposed law removes the prohibition and permits the use of Transportation Trust Fund
monies for the grant program.
