[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 356 Engrossed 2016 Regular Session Leger Abstract: Removes a provision allowing the Freight Railroad Intermodal Grant Program to operate for only 10 years and permits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies for the grant program. Present law provides for the Freight Railroad Intermodal Grant Program (program) within the Dept. of Transportation and Development. Proposed law retains present law. Present law requires the program to be implemented not later than Jan. 1, 1998, for a 10-year period and to be evaluated at the end of that period. Proposed law repeals present law. Present law prohibits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies for the grant program. Proposed law removes the prohibition and permits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies for the grant program. Proposed law prohibits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies by the grant program for the operating costs of any railroad. Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action. (Amends R.S. 48:388.1(C); Repeals R.S. 48:388.1(B)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by House The Committee Amendments Proposed by House Committee on Transportation, Highways and Public Works to the original bill: 1.
