TRANSPORTATION: Provides relative to funds to be utilized for state rail freight service
assistance

2To repeal R.S. 48:388(F), relative to rail; to provide relative to assistance for rail service;
3 and to provide for related matters.
4Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
5 Section 1. R.S. 48:388(F) is hereby repealed in its entirety.

Abstract: Repeals a provision that prohibits state funds from being utilized for financial
assistance to any private or public person or corporation.
Present law authorizes the Dept. of Transportation and Development to provide financial
assistance, within the limits of the funds appropriated for this purpose, for the preservation
of operations and maintenance of any railroad within the state as provided for in relevant
federal law.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law provides that no state funds shall be used for financial assistance to any private
or public person or corporation.
Proposed law repeals present law.
