Abstract:  Removes a provision allowing the Freight Railroad Intermodal Grant Program to operate
for only 10 years and permits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies for the grant
program.
Present law provides for the Freight Railroad Intermodal Grant Program (program) within the Dept.
of Transportation and Development.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law requires the program to be implemented not later than Jan. 1, 1998, for a 10-year period
and to be evaluated at the end of that period.
Proposed law repeals present law.
Present law prohibits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies for the grant program.
Proposed law removes the prohibition and permits the use of Transportation Trust Fund monies for
the grant program.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
