Provides relative to funds to be utilized for state rail freight service assistance.
DIGEST
Present law authorizes the Dept. of Transportation and Development to provide financial
assistance, within the limits of the funds appropriated for this purpose, for the preservation
of operations and maintenance of any railroad within the state as provided for in relevant
federal law.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law provides that no state funds shall be used for financial assistance to any private
or public person or corporation.
Proposed law changes present law to allow use of state funds provided the department
submits a report to the House and Senate committees on transportation, highways, and public
works prior to application for federal funds.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
