Abstract:  Increases the maximum amount of per diem paid to members of the board of
commissioners of waterworks districts located in certain parishes.
Present law authorizes parishes to create waterworks districts, which have control of water systems
in the respective districts.  Provides for meetings of the board of commissioners of any such district.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law authorizes the parish governing authority to fix the per diem to be paid to commissioners
in an amount not to exceed $60 for each meeting attended, up to 24 regular meetings and 12 special
meetings in a year.
Proposed law increases the maximum per diem to $120 for commissioners of waterworks districts
in a parish with a population of not less than 20,000 and not more than 20,500 persons.
