HB 419 Engrossed	2016 Regular Session	Shadoin
Abstract: Authorizes an automobile expense allowance for the assessor in LaSalle, Red River, and
Union parishes not to exceed 15% of the assessor's salary to be paid from existing funds of
the assessor's office.
Present law authorizes an automobile expense allowance for the assessor in Webster Parish. The
allowance is equal to 15% of the assessor's annual salary and payable out of existing funds of the
assessor's office, provided the assessor maintains $300,000 of automobile insurance per accident for
bodily injury and $100,000 of automobile insurance per accident for property damage.
Proposed law retains present law as it relates to the assessor in Webster Parish but adds authorization
for the assessor in LaSalle, Red River, and Union parishes to have an automobile expense allowance
as provided for in present law.
Proposed law adds a limitation for the assessors in LaSalle, Red River, Union, and Webster parishes
that the amount of the expense allowance shall not exceed 15% of the assessor's annual salary and
that the expense allowance be funded by the assessor at no additional expense to the state or local
governing authority.
