APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of judgment in the
matter of "Jennie Lynn Badeaux Russ, et al v The State of Louisiana, through the
Department of Transportation and Development"
1 AN ACT
2To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2016-
3 2017 to be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit entitled "Jennie Lynn
4 Badeaux Russ, individually and on behalf of her deceased husband, Garrett W. Russ,
5 David W. Russ, individually and on behalf of his deceased father, Garrett W. Russ,
6 and Kayla R. Russ, individually and on behalf of her deceased father, Garrett W.
7 Russ v. The State of Louisiana, through the Department of Transportation and
8 Development"; and to provide for related matters.
9Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
10 Section 1. The sum of One Million Five Hundred Thousand and No/100
11($1,500,000.00) Dollars, is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of
12Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 to be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit
13entitled "Jennie Lynn Badeaux Russ, et al. v. State of Louisiana, through DOTD", bearing
14Number 119573 on the docket of the 17
th
Judicial District Court, parish of Lafourche, state
15of Louisiana.
16 Section 2. The judgment provided for in Section 1 hereof shall be deemed to have
17no legal interest.
18 Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2016; if vetoed by the governor
19and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
202016, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.
