ENROLLED 2016 Regular Session HOUSE BILL NO. 591 BY REPRESENTATIVES TERRY LANDRY, TERRY BROWN, GISCLAIR, GUINN, HALL, HAVARD, HILL, HOWARD, NORTON, PIERRE, AND WHITE 1 AN ACT 2 To enact R.S. 32:386(L), relative to the weight of certain vehicles allowed on roads and 3 highways; to allow certain vehicles to exceed weight limitations on roads and 4 highways; and to provide for related matters. 5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 32:386(L) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7 ยง386. Weight 8 * * * 9 L.(1) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, a vehicle that is 10 operated by an engine fueled primarily by compressed or liquified natural gas may 11 exceed the gross vehicle weight limits and any axle weight limits imposed by this 12 Section by an amount, not to exceed a maximum of two thousand pounds, that is 13 equal to the difference between the weight of the vehicle attributable to the natural 14 gas tank and fueling system carried by the vehicle and the weight of a comparable 15 diesel tank and fueling system. HB NO. 591 ENROLLED 1 (2) The weight exception provided in this Subsection shall apply to all state 2 roads and interstate highways per the exemption expressly permitted by 23 U.S.C. 3 127, as amended by Section 1410 of the Fixing America's Surface Transportation 4 Act of 2015.
