GREEN SHEET REDIGEST HB 591 2016 Regular Session Terry Landry (KEYWORD, SUMMARY, AND DIGEST as amended by Senate committee amendments) TRANSPORTATION: Permits vehicles operated by engines fueled wholly or partially with compressed or liquefied natural gas to exceed gross vehicle weight limits and axle weight limits DIGEST Present law provides that the total gross weight of any vehicle or combination of vehicles shall not exceed a certain amount. Proposed law provides an exception to present law that allows for a vehicle, if operated by an engine fueled primarily by compressed or liquified natural gas, to exceed this limitation by up to 2,000 lbs. Proposed law specifies that the weight exception provided in proposed law applies to all state roads and interstate highways per the exemption expressly permitted by federal law.
