RÉSUMÉ DIGEST ACT 279 (HB 591) 2016 Regular Session Terry Landry Existing law provides that the total gross weight of any vehicle or combination of vehicles shall not exceed a certain amount. New law provides an exception to existing law that allows for a vehicle, if operated by an engine fueled primarily by compressed or liquified natural gas, to exceed this limitation by up to 2,000 lbs. New law specifies that the weight exception provided in new law applies to all state roads and interstate highways per the exemption expressly permitted by federal law. Effective August 1, 2016.
