R.S. 35:191.1(B)(1) and (2) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as 7follows: 8 ยง191.1. Secretary of state; uniform statewide standards, rules, and procedures for 9 notarial examinations 10 * * * 11 B. The secretary of state shall also: 12 (1) Charge a fee not to exceed seventy-five of one hundred dollars for each 13 examinee taking an examination. 14 (2) Publish and make available to the public a document containing the 15 material and sources from which examination questions are devised for use as a 16 study guide and charge a fee for the actual cost not to exceed of one hundred dollars. 17 * * * 18 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 19signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 20by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 21vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 22effective on the day following such approval. Present law requires the secretary of state to develop and administer a uniform statewide notarial exam and authorizes a fee not to exceed $75 for each examinee taking the examination. Proposed law retains present law and increases the maximum $75 fee to a fixed $100 fee. Present law requires the secretary of state to publish and make available to the public a document containing the material and sources from which examination questions are devised and charge a fee for the actual cost not to exceed $100. Proposed law retains present law and changes the maximum $100 charge to a fixed $100 charge. Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
