Abstract:  Increases the maximum $75 notary examination fee to a fixed $100 fee, and changes the
maximum $100 charge for the notary exam study materials to a fixed $100 charge.
Present law requires the secretary of state to develop and administer a uniform statewide notarial
exam and authorizes a fee not to exceed $75 for each examinee taking the examination.
Proposed law retains present law and increases the maximum $75 fee to a fixed $100 fee.
Present law requires the secretary of state to publish and make available to the public a document
containing the material and sources from which examination questions are devised  and charge a fee
for the actual cost not to exceed $100.
Proposed law retains present law and changes the maximum $100 charge to a fixed $100 charge.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
