Existing law provides that vehicles that do not meet the standard measurements for regular
operation of vehicles on highways may be allowed to operate such vehicles on highways if
issued a special permit to do so by the secretary of the Dept. of Transportation and
Development.
New law retains existing law.
New law authorizes the secretary of the Dept. of Transportation and Development to allow
vehicles issued certain special permits to operate on interstate highways at night if requested
by the owner or operator of the vehicle.
Effective August 1, 2016.
