APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of judgment in the
matter of "Theresa Melancon and Sheryl Dupre, Curatrix, as Representative of
Theresa L. Melancon, an Interdict v. State of Louisiana through the Department of
Transportation and Development, et al."
1 AN ACT
2To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2016-
3 2017 to be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit entitled "Theresa Melancon
4 and Sheryl Dupre, Curatrix, as Representative of Theresa L. Melancon, an Interdict
5 v. State of Louisiana through the Department of Transportation and Development,
6 et al."; and to provide for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. The sum of Five Hundred Thousand and No/100 ($500,000.00) Dollars
9is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year
102016-2017 to be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit entitled "Theresa Melancon
11and Sheryl Dupre, Curatrix, as Representative of Theresa L. Melancon, an Interdict v. State
12of Louisiana through the Department of Transportation and Development, et al.", bearing
13Number 210,863 on the docket of the 9th Judicial District Court, parish of Rapides, state of
14Louisiana.
15 Section 2. The sum of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand and No/100 ($250,000.00)
16Dollars is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal
17Year 2016-2017 to be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit entitled "Theresa
18Melancon and Sheryl Dupre, Curatrix, as Representative of Theresa L. Melancon, an
19Interdict v. State of Louisiana through the Department of Transportation and Development,
20et al.", bearing Number 210,863 on the docket of the 9th Judicial District Court, parish of

1Rapides, state of Louisiana to the State of Louisiana, Department of Health and Hospitals
2Medicaid Program for reimbursement of medical expenses paid by the Medicaid Program
3on behalf of Theresa Melancon.
4 Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2016; if vetoed by the governor
5and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
62016, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.

Program for reimbursement of medical expenses.
