Abstract:  Following the initial background check, requires the annual background check of the
principal of the third-party examiner or tester be the same as what is required of employees
of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles, and prohibits the
department from requiring submission of fingerprints.
Present law requires the principal of the third-party examiner or tester who has or is seeking a
contract with the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, public safety services, to administer
commercial driving examinations and tests must consent to, pass, and pay the costs of an annual
background check.
Proposed law requires that following the initial background check, the annual background check of
the principal of the third-party examiner or tester must be the same as what is required of employees
of the Dept. of Public Safety and Corrections, office of motor vehicles, and
cannot require submission of fingerprints.
