PARKS/STATE:  Authorizes the operation of golf carts on roadways within Lake Fausse
Point State Park
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 32:127.3, relative to golf carts; to authorize operation of golf carts on
3 roadways within Lake Fausse Point State Park; to provide for definitions; and to
4 provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 32:127.3 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง127.3.  Golf carts; Lake Fausse Point State Park
8	A.  Notwithstanding any law, rule, or regulation to the contrary, a golf cart
9 may be operated between sunrise and sunset on the roadways within the boundaries
10 of Lake Fausse Point State Park by any operator who is in possession of a valid
11 driver's license and liability insurance.
12	B.  For the purposes of this Section, the provisions of R.S. 32:53(D), 261, and
13 Chapter 5 of this Title shall not apply, and golf carts shall not be considered a vehicle
14 for purposes of defining "equipment" as referenced in Part V of Chapter 1 of this
15 Title.
16	C.  For the purposes of this Section, "golf cart" means an electric vehicle that
17 was originally intended for use off-road on golf courses and other green spaces and
18 that has a maximum speed of twenty-five miles per hour.

Abstract:  Authorizes operation of golf carts on roadways within Lake Fausse Point State
Park.
Proposed law provides that golf carts may operate between sunrise and sunset on the
roadways within the limits of Lake Fausse Point State Park by any operator who is in
possession of a valid driver's license and liability insurance.  Defines "golf cart" as an
electric vehicle that was originally intended for use off-road on golf courses and other green
spaces and that has a maximum speed of 25 miles per hour.
Proposed law excepts the provisions of proposed law from certain requirements regarding
operation of vehicles on roadways contained in present law.
