HOUSE BILL NO. 91

COURTS/MAYORS:  Provides for a mayor's court in the village of Elizabeth
1	AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 33:455, relative to mayors' courts; to establish a mayor's court in the village
3 of Elizabeth in Allen Parish; to provide for territorial jurisdiction; to provide for the
4 powers and authority of the mayor as magistrate of the court and other officers of the
5 court; and to provide for related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 33:455 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
8 ยง455.  Mayor's court; village of Elizabeth
9	A.  There is hereby created the Mayor's Court of the Village of Elizabeth, the
10 territorial jurisdiction of which shall extend throughout the village of Elizabeth in
11 Allen Parish.
12	B.  The general provisions of R.S. 33:441 and 442 shall be applicable to and
13 shall govern and regulate the Mayor's Court of the Village of Elizabeth, the
14 jurisdiction of the court, and the power and authority of the mayor and other officers
15 of the court.

Abstract: Establishes the Mayor's Court of the Village of Elizabeth in Allen Parish.
Proposed law creates a mayor's court for the village of Elizabeth and provides that the
territorial jurisdiction of the court shall extend throughout the village of Elizabeth in Allen
Parish. 
Proposed law provides that general law applicable to mayors' courts also applies to the
Mayor's Court of the Village of Elizabeth, including the subject matter jurisdiction
(violations of municipal ordinances) and the power and authority of the mayor and other
officers of the court.
