ACT 36 (HB 91) 2016 Regular Session Hill
New law creates a mayor's court for the village of Elizabeth and provides that the territorial
jurisdiction of the court shall extend throughout the village of Elizabeth in Allen Parish.
New law provides that general laws applicable to mayors' courts (R.S. 33:441 and 442) also
apply to the Mayor's Court of the Village of Elizabeth, including the subject matter
jurisdiction (violations of municipal ordinances) requirement and the power and authority
of the mayor and other officers of the court provisions.
Effective August 1, 2016.
