[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 919 Original 2016 Regular Session Seabaugh Abstract: Reduces the minimum number of weekly hours of operation qualifying a facility as a child day care center from 12.5 to three. Present law provides for the licensing and regulation of child day care centers by the state Dept. of Education. Present law defines a child day care center as a facility providing care for at least seven children for at least 12.5 hours per week. Proposed law reduces the minimum number of hours a facility must operate weekly to meet this definition from 12.5 to three. Present law provides that a child day care center that remains open for more than 12.5 hours in a week is considered "full-time". Proposed law lowers this "full-time" threshold from 12.5 hours to three hours. (Amends R.S. 17:407.33(A)(3))
