Existing law provides for the crime of domestic abuse battery, and provides criminal
penalties for such offense.
Prior law included participation in a court-monitored domestic abuse intervention program
as part of those penalties.
New law requires completion of this program rather than participation in the program.
Effective August 1, 2016.
