CEMETERIES:  Provides relative to fees charged for burial at a state veterans cemetery
1	AN ACT
2To amend and reenact R.S. 29:295(C), relative to burials at state veterans cemeteries; to
3 provide for fees for such burials; to provide authority for the waiving of burial fees;
4 to provide relative to use of funds generated from burial fees; and to provide for
5 related matters.
6Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 29:295(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
8 ยง295.  Louisiana veterans cemeteries

10	C.  The department may charge a fee of seven hundred forty-five dollars for
11 burials in a cemetery operated under pursuant to this Section and may promulgate
12 rules for the assessment of the fee department to waive the fee, or any portion
13 thereof, for financial hardship as defined and set forth in the rules promulgated by
14 the department. The department may use the funds generated from the collection of
15 burial fees to pay for costs associated with the operation of the cemeteries.

Abstract:  Provides for fees for burials at state veterans cemeteries and the use of funds
generated from burial fees.
Present law allows the Dept. of Veterans Affairs to charge a fee for burials in a state veterans
cemetery and to promulgate rules for assessing the fee.
Proposed law authorizes a fee of $745 for burial in a state veterans cemetery. 
Proposed law allows the Dept. of Veterans Affairs to waive all or a part of the fee assessed
for burial in a state veterans cemetery in circumstances of financial hardship. 
Proposed law permits the department to use the funds generated from burial fees to pay costs
incurred in the operation of the state veterans cemeteries.
