[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 969 Original 2016 Regular Session Cox Abstract: Requires nursing homes and adult residential care providers to disseminate educational information on shingles and pneumonia. Proposed law requires nursing homes and adult residential care providers to provide educational information on shingles and pneumonia no later than Sept. 1 of each year and in accordance with the latest recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Proposed law requires the educational information to include, at a minimum, all of the following: (1)The risks associated with shingles and pneumonia. (2)The availability, effectiveness, and known contraindications of the shingles and pneumococcal immunizations. (3)The causes and symptoms of shingles and pneumonia. (4)The means by which the varicella-zoster virus and pneumonia are spread. Proposed law shall not be construed to require any nursing home or adult residential care provider to provide or pay for any immunization against the varicella-zoster virus or pneumonia.
