[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] HB 997 Original 2016 Regular Session Thibaut Abstract: Requires the Office of Group Benefits (OGB) to make certain information available on its website and to receive prior approval of any new schedule of benefits of a self-insured group health plan offered by OGB. Proposed law requires the Office of Group Benefits (OGB) to prepare a summary of benefits and coverage for each self-insured group health plan offered by OGB in accordance with applicable federal law. Proposed law requires any new schedule of benefits of a self-insured group health plan offered by OGB to be subject to review and prior approval of the House Committee on Appropriations and the Senate Committee on Finance. Proposed law requires OGB to publish on its website the summary of benefits and coverage required under proposed law and the plan documents for each self-insured group health plan offered by OGB. Proposed law requires any modifications to plan documents for self-insured group health plans offered by OGB to comply with applicable state and federal laws. Proposed law requires OGB to provide all premium rates and any changes to premium rates for the self-insured group health plans to the Group Benefits Estimating Conference, the Group Benefits Policy and Planning Board, and the independent consulting actuary retained by or on behalf of the Office of Group Benefits in accordance with applicable state law.
