1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 13:5554(H)(4), relative to payment for certain benefits for retirees from the
3 Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office; to provide for the qualifications for payment of
4 certain insurance premiums; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 13:5554(H)(4) is hereby enacted to read as follows:

11 (4) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection D of this Section and
12 Paragraph (3) of this Subsection, the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office shall pay the
13 premium costs of group insurance for any retired sheriff and deputy sheriff who
14 retires from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office on or after July 1, 2016, as
15 follows:
16 (a) One hundred percent of the premium costs of group health, hospital,
17 surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of
18 life insurance for sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire from the Assumption Parish
19 Sheriff's Office with at least thirty years of full-time creditable service with the
20 Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, and who are at least fifty-five years of age on the
21 date of formal retirement from active service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's
22 Office.

1 (b) Seventy-five percent of the premium costs of group health, hospital,
2 surgical, medical expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of
3 life insurance for sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire from the Assumption Parish
4 Sheriff's Office with at least twenty-five years of full-time creditable service with the
5 Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, and who are at least fifty-five years of age on the
6 date of formal retirement from active service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's
7 Office.
8 (c) Fifty percent of the premium costs of group health, surgical, medical
9 expense, and dental insurance, and the first ten thousand dollars of life insurance for
10 sheriffs and deputy sheriffs who retire from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office
11 with at least twenty years of full-time creditable service with the Assumption Parish
12 Sheriff's Office, and who are at least fifty-five years of age on the date of formal
13 retirement from active service with the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office.

15 Section 2. The provisions of this Act shall become effective on July 1, 2016.
