HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 138

COMMENDATIONS: Commends Logansport and the Logansport Lions Club for their
Christmas fundraiser and Christmas Pageant Tour
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To commend Logansport, Louisiana, and the Logansport Lions Club for their Christmas
3 fundraiser and Christmas Pageant Tour.
4 WHEREAS, the Logansport Lions Club and the town of Logansport, Louisiana, have
5devised a unique way to raise money for visually impaired children and others; and
6 WHEREAS, this unique idea includes a Christmas Pageant Tour along the Sabine
7River, telling the story of the birth of Jesus Christ; and
8 WHEREAS, this tour will include various displays and scenes meant to depict
9moments and places before, during, and after the birth of Jesus Christ; and
10 WHEREAS, in order for this tour to be successful and effective, certain portions of
11the Sabine River and the town of Logansport must be given biblical designations for a short
12period of time only; and
13 WHEREAS, these designations shall only be provided to give the tour the proper
14atmosphere and effect; and
15 WHEREAS, the tour along with other activities of the fundraiser should be
16recognized as a unique opportunity to raise money for those in need.
17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
18commend the town of Logansport, Louisiana, and the Logansport Lions Club for their
19Christmas fundraiser, including the Christmas Pageant Tour.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
21designate, for the purposes of the tour, the town of Logansport, Louisiana, as "Bethlehem"

1and that portion of the Sabine River stretching four hundred yards north and four hundred
2yards south of Logansport as the "River Jordan" for a period beginning on December 1,
32016, and ending December 31, 2016.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
5Logansport town council.
