HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 138

A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Logansport, Louisiana, and the Logansport Lions Club for their Christmas
fundraiser and Christmas Pageant Tour.
WHEREAS, the Logansport Lions Club and the town of Logansport, Louisiana, have
devised a unique way to raise money for visually impaired children and others; and
WHEREAS, this unique idea includes a Christmas Pageant Tour along the Sabine
River, telling the story of the birth of Jesus Christ; and
WHEREAS, this tour will include various displays and scenes meant to depict
moments and places before, during, and after the birth of Jesus Christ; and
WHEREAS, in order for this tour to be successful and effective, certain portions of
the Sabine River and the town of Logansport must be given biblical designations for a short
period of time only; and
WHEREAS, these designations shall only be provided to give the tour the proper
atmosphere and effect; and
WHEREAS, the tour along with other activities of the fundraiser should be
recognized as a unique opportunity to raise money for those in need.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the town of Logansport, Louisiana, and the Logansport Lions Club for their
Christmas fundraiser, including the Christmas Pageant Tour.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
designate, for the purposes of the tour, the town of Logansport, Louisiana, as "Bethlehem"
and that portion of the Sabine River stretching four hundred yards north and four hundred
yards south of Logansport as the "River Jordan" for a period beginning on December 1,
2016, and ending December 31, 2016.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Logansport town council.
