TRANSPORTATION:  Urges and requests the Department of Transportation and
Development to study the feasibility and practicality of placing a directional traffic
control signal in the north bound lane on Essen Lane near the LSU Rural Life
Museum
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to study the
3 feasibility and practicality of placing a directional traffic control signal in the north
4 bound lane on Essen Lane near the LSU Rural Life Museum.
5 WHEREAS, directional traffic control signals are designed to enhance highway
6safety, facilitate orderly movement of traffic, and reduce traffic delays and accidents; and
7 WHEREAS, Essen Lane is a heavily traveled area, with the LSU Rural Life Museum
8located near the interstate, and a directional traffic control signal may allow those working
9at or visiting the museum easier and safer access as well as alleviate traffic congestion.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
11urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development, in consultation with
12the local governing authority, to study the feasibility and to assess the advisability of
13erecting a directional traffic control signal in the north bound lane on Essen Lane near the
14LSU Rural Life Museum.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation and
16Development complete a study, which shall consider traffic patterns, traffic volume, traffic
17speed, road features including curves and visibility, and whether lesser forms of traffic
18control would be effective.

1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation and
2Development complete a written report stating whether placing a directional traffic signal
3control in the north bound lane on Essen Lane near the LSU Rural Life Museum is feasible
4and practical.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation and
6Development report to the Senate and House committees on transportation, highways and
7public works and to the representative who represents District 70 on or before October 1,
82016.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the
10secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.

Provides that the Dept. of Transportation and Development report their findings to the
Senate and House committees on transportation, highways and public works and to the
representative who represents District 70 on or before Oct. 1, 2016.
