HLS 16RS-2559 ORIGINAL 2016 Regular Session HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 83 BY REPRESENTATIVE STEVE CARTER COMMENDATIONS: Commends Pete Boudreaux upon his induction into the National High School Hall of Fame 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2To commend Pete Boudreaux upon his induction into the National High School Hall of 3 Fame. 4 WHEREAS, Pete Boudreaux graduated from Catholic High School in 1959, and he 5furthered his education at Louisiana State University; and 6 WHEREAS, showing his exceptional athletic ability at a young age, Mr. Boudreaux 7was a Southeastern Conference Champion and a pole vault record holder; and 8 WHEREAS, in 1966, Mr. Boudreaux returned to Catholic High School, where he has 9served as a history teacher, guidance counselor, head of guidance, chair of the physical 10education department, athletic director, and as head coach for track and cross country; and 11 WHEREAS, throughout his forty-eight year career at Catholic High School, Coach 12Boudreaux has captured forty-three track and cross country titles; recently, he lead the Bears 13to a second place finish at the Division I Louisiana High School Athletic Association Indoor 14State meet; his team is also the reigning Class 5A outdoor track champion; and 15 WHEREAS, Coach Boudreaux's teams have won sixteen state titles in cross country, 16twelve state titles in indoor track, and fifteen state titles in outdoor track; his teams have also 17finished as a state runner-up twenty-one times; and 18 WHEREAS, in 2000, Coach Boudreaux was inducted into the Louisiana High School 19Sports Hall of Fame, and in 2014, he became the first high school track coach inducted into 20the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame; and Page 1 of 2 HLS 16RS-2559 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 83 1 WHEREAS, he was also inducted into the Catholic High School Hall of Fame and 2the LSU Track Officials Hall of Fame; and 3 WHEREAS, Coach Boudreaux has been named Louisiana Coach of the Year, 4Athletic Director of the Year, and National High School Regional Coach of the Year; and 5 WHEREAS, he has served as a past president of the Louisiana High School Coaches 6Association, and he served on the executive committee of the Louisiana High School 7Athletic Directors Association; he was named to the United States Olympics Sports Festival 8coaching staff, served on the staff for the USA vs. Great Britain meet in Edinburgh, 9Scotland, in 1993, and was a staff member for the Junior World Championships in Annecy, 10France, in 1998; and 11 WHEREAS, Coach Boudreaux is respected and admired for the wonderful guidance 12he gives to his athletes both on and off the track, as he challenges them to succeed not only 13as athletes but as well-rounded human beings; and 14 WHEREAS, Coach Boudreaux merits a special measure of commendation for his 15highly significant achievements and for his induction into the National High School Hall of 16Fame. 17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 18commend Pete Boudreaux for his induction into the National High School Hall of Fame; 19does hereby recognize and record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and his 20incredible legacy; and does hereby extend to him every good wish for continued success and 21happiness in all of his future endeavors. 22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted 23to Pete Boudreaux.
