3 International Code Council to raise awareness of the important role of building codes
4 for the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
5 WHEREAS, Louisiana's continuing efforts to address critical issues of safety, energy
6efficiency, water conservation, and resilience of the built environment that affect our
7citizens, both in everyday life and in times of natural disaster, give us confidence that our
8structures are safe and sound; and
9 WHEREAS, our state's confidence is achieved through the devotion of vigilant
10guardians such as building safety and fire prevention officials, architects, engineers, builders,
11tradespeople, laborers, and others in the construction industry who work year-round to
12ensure the safe construction of buildings; and
13 WHEREAS, dedicated members of the International Code Council use a
14governmental consensus process that brings together local, state, and federal officials with
15expertise in the built environment to create and implement the highest quality codes to
16protect Americans in the buildings where we live, learn, work, worship, and play; and
17 WHEREAS, the International Codes, the most widely adopted building safety,

8 WHEREAS, "Building Codes: Driving Growth through Innovation, Resilience, and
9Safety" is the theme for Building Safety Month 2016, and this theme encourages all
