SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH:  Designates Wednesday, April 27, 2016, as Krabbe
Disease Awareness Day at the state capitol
1	A RESOLUTION
2To designate Wednesday, April 27, 2016, as Krabbe Disease Awareness Day at the state
3 capitol.
4 WHEREAS, Krabbe Disease is a genetic disorder that affects the central and
5peripheral nervous systems; and
6 WHEREAS, those affected by Krabbe Disease typically appear healthy until onset
7or when an individual experiences symptoms of the disease; the onset of the disease can vary
8from the first few weeks or months of life into adulthood; and
9 WHEREAS, those who suffer from Krabbe Disease have a deficiency of an
10important enzyme called Galactosylceramidase; and
11 WHEREAS, Hunter's Hope is an organization that raises awareness for the disease
12and provides hope to suffering children and their families; and
13 WHEREAS, Anniston Bazar, a two-year-old girl from Louisiana, is bravely battling
14Krabbe Disease; her parents are Corey and Reesa Bazar, and they established Always
15Anniston to spread awareness for the disease; and
16 WHEREAS, Anniston and her parents deserve honor and recognition for the
17dedication that they have shown towards a future free of Krabbe Disease.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
19Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, April 27, 2016, as Krabbe
20Disease Awareness Day at the state capitol and does hereby encourage all Louisianans to

1learn more about Krabbe Disease and what can be done to support individuals with Krabbe
2Disease and their families.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
4to Corey and Reesa Bazar.
