COMMENDATIONS: Commends Emily LaBorde Stoma upon being named Humanitarian
of the Year by the Crowley Chamber of Commerce
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Emily LaBorde Stoma upon being named Humanitarian of the Year by the
3 Crowley Chamber of Commerce.
4 WHEREAS, Emily LaBorde Stoma is the wife of Harvey Stoma and the proud
5mother of Leith "Brooke", Annsley, Cassidy, and Trevor; she is also the grandmother of six
6grandchildren; and
7 WHEREAS, she is a graduate of Crowley High School, a certified graduate of
8Louisiana's Banker's School of Banking, and a 1997 graduate of Leadership EXCEL; and
9 WHEREAS, for twenty-three years she worked for First National Bank of Crowley
10in the accounting department; she also served as secretary and vice president for the board
11of directors, as well as secretary for the board of the Financial Corporation of Louisiana; and
12 WHEREAS, Mrs. Stoma has dedicated many years to the growth and development
13of children, and she has helped improve the lives of those less fortunate; she has volunteered
14much of her time coaching baseball and softball and has served on the board of directors for
15the Crowley Recreation Department; and
16 WHEREAS, she is an active supporter of St. Michael Elementary School,
17St. Michael Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Redemptorist Catholic School, and
18Notre Dame High School; and
19 WHEREAS, in November of 1998, Mrs. Stoma was recognized as Volunteer of the
20Month by Notre Dame High School for her outstanding achievements and contributions; and

1 WHEREAS, she has been involved with the Crowley Business and Professional
2Women's Club, the Crowley Rotary Club, the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, and the
3Crowley Chamber of Commerce; and
4 WHEREAS, for the past sixteen years, Mrs. Stoma has been a huge asset to the
5Crowley Christian Care Center for her service as a volunteer administrator; and
6 WHEREAS, Emily LaBorde Stoma is an exemplary citizen, and it is appropriate to
7commend her on her prestigious accomplishment as the Crowley Chamber of Commerce
8celebrates her as Humanitarian of the Year.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Emily LaBorde Stoma upon being named
11Humanitarian of the Year by the Crowley Chamber of Commerce and does hereby extend
12enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that she brings to her family and
13friends, her community, and the state of Louisiana.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
15to Emily LaBorde Stoma.
