COMMENDATIONS: Commends Lawrence A. Libby, Jr., upon being named Business
Person of the Year by the Crowley Chamber of Commerce
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Lawrence A. Libby, Jr., upon being named Business Person of the Year by the
3 Crowley Chamber of Commerce.
4 WHEREAS, Lawrence A. Libby, Jr., is the husband of Enola Alleman Libby and the
5proud father of Michael Libby, Debbie Libby Gaspard, and Dinah Libby Habetz; he is also
6the grandfather of four grandchildren and the great-grandfather of five great-grandchildren;
7and
8 WHEREAS, Mr. Libby owns and operates Libby Air Conditioning; Libby Air
9Conditioning dates back to 1919, and Mr. Libby is the third generation to continue the
10family owned business; and
11 WHEREAS, the business began as a sheet metal business and was established by
12Mr. Libby's step great-grandfather, Anderson Fontenot; in the 1930s, Mr. Libby's father,
13Lawrence Libby, Sr., began installing heating units and duct work; in 1946, Libby Air
14Conditioning was established; and
15 WHEREAS, some of the first businesses to have cooling units installed by Mr. Libby
16and his father include Bowski's, First National Bank, and Palace Barbershop; and
17 WHEREAS, in 1964, after the death of his father, Mr. Libby began running the
18business on his own until his son, Michael, began helping; and
19 WHEREAS, in 2016, Libby Air Conditioning celebrates its seventieth anniversary;

1 WHEREAS, Libby Air Conditioning services Acadia Parish, Vermilion Parish, and
2Lafayette Parish; the business serves its customers with honesty and integrity; and
3 WHEREAS, Mr. Libby has reigned as King Cimmer XLI for the Krewe of Town
4Revelers; he is an avid outdoorsman and an active supporter of the Coastal Conservation
5Association and Ducks Unlimited; he is also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church; and
6 WHEREAS, Lawrence A. Libby, Jr., is an exemplary businessman, and it is
7appropriate to commend him on his prestigious accomplishment as the Crowley Chamber
8of Commerce celebrates him as Business Person of the Year.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Lawrence A. Libby, Jr., upon being named
11Business Person of the Year by the Crowley Chamber of Commerce and does hereby extend
12enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that he brings to his family and
13friends, his community, and the state of Louisiana.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
15to Lawrence A. Libby, Jr.
