COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Shiloh Community of Bienville Parish for its
triannual gathering of community and kin
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend and congratulate the Shiloh Community of Bienville Parish for its triannual
3 gathering of community and kin.
4 WHEREAS, the Shiloh Community of Bienville Parish meets three times each year;
5and
6 WHEREAS, in April 2016, thirty-one senior citizens were honored along with area
7residents who have served in the military, are retired teachers, bus drivers, and youth
8directors; these individuals have been stalwarts in Bienville Parish; and
9 WHEREAS, gathering founder Gwaylon Gilbert and committee members Ebony
10Sims-Evans, Latoya Davis, Linda Calloway-May, Shirley Jackson, Tonya Calloway,
11Yolanda Gilbert-Tindall, and Floyd Gilbert have dedicated time, effort, heart, and soul to
12bring together this unique society of friends and kin; and
13 WHEREAS, members of the community have traveled to Bienville Parish to take
14part in this triannual homecoming event from as far away as California and Michigan, and
15from as near as Louisiana's sister states of Oklahoma and Texas; and
16 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the Shiloh Community of Bienville Parish
17and to celebrate the familial and neighborly ties that bind the hearts of those who come
18together thrice yearly to keep in touch under the fitting theme, "Shiloh: It's more than a
19community ... it's family, friends, and fellowship!"
20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
21Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Shiloh Community of Bienville Parish

1for its wonderful tradition of gathering and does hereby express best hopes and wishes for
2the gatherings to reap bountiful harvests of friendship that will last for centuries to come.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
4to Gwaylon Gilbert.
