ENROLLED 2016 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 131 BY REPRESENTATIVES EMERSON AND HILL A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Joseph "Joe" Lee Baudoin. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the death of Joseph "Joe" Lee Baudoin on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at the age of seventy-seven; and WHEREAS, born on December 29, 1938, in Scott, Joe Baudoin was the son of the late Aristle and Louise Maitre Baudoin; and WHEREAS, at an early age, Mr. Baudoin developed a strong work ethic in farming and crop tending; at the age of fifteen, he earned top recognition through the National 4-H Club for his yam production; and WHEREAS, in October of 1956, Mr. Baudoin met Clara Belle Guilbeau; the loving couple married on June 15, 1957; and WHEREAS, he was a staunch supporter of his wife, Clara, during her campaign for the Louisiana House of Representatives; Mrs. Baudoin served as a distinguished member of the House of Representatives from 1996 until 2008; and WHEREAS, Mr. Baudoin worked as an electrical line assistant for Frank C. Rogers and was later employed by the city of Lafayette; in 1992, after thirty years of dedicated service, Mr. Baudoin retired as a transmission and distribution foreman for Lafayette Utilities System; and WHEREAS, after his retirement, Mr. Baudoin enjoyed planning and hosting family dinners; he was a generous man, and he often delivered food plates to the sick and elderly in his parish; and WHEREAS, a devout Catholic, Mr. Baudoin was a parishioner of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton and St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Post 6958, and the Bonne Mort Society; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 131 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Mr. Baudoin always had a smile on his face, and his kindness and personality consistently shone through in all of his activities; and WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Geraldine B. Thomas and Mary Lou B. Touchet; and WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-nine years, former state representative Clara Guilbeau Baudoin; his son, Joseph Wayne Baudoin and his wife Sheila; his daughters, Angela B. Boutin and her husband Michael and Phyllis B. Cortez and her husband Mark; his grandchildren, Crystal Snider and her husband Michael, Bradley Joseph Baudoin, Jennifer Elizabeth Shelton and her husband Colt, Wendy Nicole Baudoin, Lindsey Clara C. Palmer and her husband Randy, Marcus Paul Cortez and his wife Brittany, and Laura Marie Brewer and her fiancé John Grettner; his step grandchildren, Skye Arceneaux and her husband Mitch, Irron Boutin and his wife Kelly, and Landon Boutin and his wife Aimee; his great-grandchildren, Allison Kay Jacob, Logan G. Shelton, Lexi L. Shelton, Andrew Lee Grettner, Cheyenne A. Palmer, Cam Palmer, Cruz Palmer, McKlain Louise Cortez; his sister, Linda B. Allred; and his grandson on the way, Brecc Jacob Cortez; and WHEREAS, although the passing of Joseph "Joe" Lee Baudoin has left a tremendous void in his community, his memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved him and whose lives were touched by this phenomenal gentleman. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Joseph "Joe" Lee Baudoin; does hereby record for posterity his extraordinary gifts and talents; and does hereby extend appreciation for his enduring legacy that will continue to be a source of great pride and honor for his family and friends, his community, and the state of Louisiana.
