COMMENDATIONS: Commends Coach Randy Carlisle of Summerfield High School
upon his many accomplishments
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Coach Randy Carlisle of Summerfield High School upon his many
3 accomplishments.
4 WHEREAS, Randy Carlisle has spent twenty-three years of his life coaching
5basketball and sports a record of six hundred fifty-one wins against one hundred fifty-one
6losses; and
7 WHEREAS, Coach Carlisle took on double duty in the 2015-2016 basketball season
8by coaching the Summerfield High School girls' basketball team to a 30-1 record and the
9Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Class C state championship on
10March 4, 2016, defeating Pleasant Hill High School by a score of 59-34; and, exactly one
11week later, Coach Carlisle led the Summerfield High boys' basketball team to the LHSAA
12Class C state championship on March 11, 2016, in a 72-54 victory over New Living Word;
13and
14 WHEREAS, in two years at Summerfield High School, Coach Carlisle has won three
15state championships: two girls' titles and one boys' title; and
16 WHEREAS, spokesman Chris Boone of the National Federation of State High
17School Associations lauded Coach Carlisle's 2016 double championship feat as a one-of-a-
18kind event; and
19 WHEREAS, Coach Carlisle was named Coach of the Year by the Louisiana Sports
20Writers Association for the 2015 girls' basketball team and in 2016 for both the boys' and
21the girls' basketball teams; and

1 WHEREAS, Randy Carlisle's coaching achievements are even more amazing when
2viewed through the lens of history: since his high school years, Randy Carlisle has been and
3remains the all-time record holder in assists in the National Federation of State High School
4Associations; and
5 WHEREAS, Coach Randy Carlisle is worthy of recognition for his outstanding
6lifetime of coaching achievements and for winning 2016 state basketball championships with
7both the boys' and girls' Summerfield High School teams.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
9Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Coach Randy Carlisle for the high standard
10of success he has achieved in high school basketball coaching and does hereby express hopes
11for continuation of his winning ways.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
13to Coach Randy Carlisle.
