COMMENDATIONS: Commends Marcus Jackson upon being named the 2015 Class A
Boys State Coach of the Year
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Arcadia High School boys' basketball coach Marcus Jackson upon being
3 named the 2015 Class A Boys State Coach of the Year.
4 WHEREAS, Marcus Jackson has achieved many milestones in his twelve year career
5as a basketball coach; and
6 WHEREAS, Marcus Jackson has a lifetime coaching record of three hundred sixty
7wins against eighty-four losses, an incredible eighty-one percent success rate; and
8 WHEREAS, in his twelve years as a head coach, Marcus Jackson's teams have made
9ten appearances in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Top 28 state
10championship tournaments; four of those appearances were with Arcadia High and six were
11with Athens High School; and
12 WHEREAS, Marcus Jackson has two LHSAA state championships under his belt:
13his Arcadia High team won in 2015, and his Athens High team won in 2010; his teams have
14been state runner-up six times; and
15 WHEREAS, the title of district champion has gone to Marcus Jackson's teams in
16each of his twelve years as head coach; he won five district championships with Arcadia and
17seven with Athens; and
18 WHEREAS, in 2005, Marcus Jackson was named Class C Boys State Coach of the
19Year; in 2008, he was named Class C Girls State Coach of the Year; and in 2010 and in
202015, he was named All-Area Shreveport Times Coach of the Year; and

1 WHEREAS, at Arcadia High School, Marcus Jackson's teams boast a home court
2winning streak that has lasted four years, from 2012 to 2016; and
3 WHEREAS, Marcus Jackson has been named 2015 Class A Boys State Coach of the
4Year, and it is fitting to recognize and honor the amazing feats of coaching and player
5development Marcus Jackson has made with his teams in twelve years of high school
6coaching.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Marcus Jackson upon being named 2015
9Class A Boys State Coach of the Year and does hereby offer highest congratulations to this
10exceptional basketball coach.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
12to Coach Marcus Jackson.
