COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Catholic of Pointe Coupee High School softball team
upon winning the Class 1A state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Catholic of Pointe Coupee High School softball team upon winning the
3 Class 1A state championship title.
4 WHEREAS, the Catholic of Pointe Coupee High School softball team completed a
5sensational season, capturing the Class 1A state championship title at the Allstate Sugar
6Bowl/Louisiana High School Athletic Association's Fast Pitch 56 state softball tournament;
7and
8 WHEREAS, Catholic of Pointe Coupee High School's 8-3 victory over St. Mary of
9Natchitoches at Frasch Park in Sulphur on Saturday, April 30, 2016, marked the Lady
10Hornets' second Class 1A state championship title in four years; and
11 WHEREAS, the Lady Hornets performed at the highest level of excellence
12throughout the season and playoffs, and these members deserve recognition: Katelyn
13Bellelo, Abbey Devillier, Sarah Welch, Kenedie Richardson, Bailey Hendricks, Ryann
14Bizette, Maddie Landry, Caitlyn Pourciau, Madison St. Romain, Camryn Lamkin, Preslie
15Tuminello, Kaitley Fisher, Emily Cazayoux, Sarah Andre, Olivia Beauvais, and Blaire
16Bizette; and
17 WHEREAS, head coach Lauren Doucet and assistant coaches John Niland and
18Brittney Olinde should also be commended for instilling a winning spirit in the players,
19while demonstrating the motivational leadership it takes to produce winners both on and off
20the field; and

1 WHEREAS, Ryann Bizette led the team to victory with consistent pitching and
2earned the honor of Most Valuable Player; and
3 WHEREAS, more than eighty percent of the team is on the honor roll and principal's
4list; and
5 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the Lady
6Hornets, and all Catholic of Pointe Coupee High School alumni and fans recognize the
7immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and
8state.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Catholic of Pointe Coupee High School
11softball team upon winning the Class 1A state championship title and does hereby extend
12best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine softball program
13as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
15to head coach Lauren Doucet.
