COMMENDATIONS: Commends Kenneth Tramble for his service and involvement in the
Deputies Making a Change youth mentoring program
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Deputy Kenneth Tramble for his service and involvement in the Ouachita
3 Parish Sheriff's Office Deputies Making a Change youth mentoring program.
4 WHEREAS, Deputies Making a Change (DMAC) is a program with the laudable
5goal of reducing the incarceration rate among young children in Ouachita Parish; the
6deputies of DMAC provide mentoring relationships to youth who are failing in school, at
7risk of being incarcerated, or who have problems with authority; and
8 WHEREAS, DMAC deputies use their knowledge, experience, and a plethora of
9physical fitness and life skill tools to enhance the thinking ability of young people and to
10promote positive behaviors; each DMAC deputy is tasked with instilling in the youth the
11seven core values of the program: discipline, education, accountability, commitment,
12motivation, respect for authority, and self reliance; and
13 WHEREAS, Deputy Kenneth Tramble is a founding member of DMAC and one of
14several officers who has taken on the mantle of mentor to Ouachita Parish's at-risk youth;
15Deputy Tramble is a U.S. Army veteran who joined the U.S. Army National Guard when his
16active duty service in the Army was completed, and in 1998, he was inspired to develop the
17DMAC mentoring program; and
18 WHEREAS, after deployment to Afghanistan in 2004, Deputy Tramble returned to
19Ouachita Parish and became involved in his community as a volunteer and a leader; in 2012,
20he rejoined the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's office and rekindled the Deputies Making a Change
21program, which has become extremely successful under his care; and

1 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to honor the work of Deputy Tramble and DMAC in
2improving the quality of life of young people in Ouachita Parish, and to publicly
3acknowledge and pay tribute to his use of both time and talent to teach young people how
4to achieve beyond their circumstances; Deputy Tramble believes in sharing this vital
5message with all under his tutelage: "Don't let where you come from dictate where you're
6going in life."
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Deputy Kenneth Tramble for sowing the
9seeds of change into the lives of at-risk youth in Ouachita Parish and does hereby express
10best hopes for continued success with Deputies Making a Change.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
12to Deputy Kenneth Tramble.
