COMMENDATIONS: Commends Micah Samari Minter upon his achievement of Eagle
Scout
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Micah Samari Minter upon achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and celebrate the accomplishments of
4Micah Samari Minter of Boy Scouts of America Troop 301 on the memorable and historic
5occasion of his attainment to the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout; and
6 WHEREAS, the purpose of Boy Scouts of America, founded on February 8, 1910,
7and chartered by the United States Congress in 1916, is to provide an educational program
8for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating
9citizenship, and to develop personal fitness; and
10 WHEREAS, to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting, a Boy
11Scout must fulfill all the requirements of leadership, service, and outdoor skills; an Eagle
12Scout must earn twenty-one merit badges which signify the mastery of Scouting skills,
13including Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, and Citizenship in the
14World; and
15 WHEREAS, in addition to the merit badges Micah Samari Minter has earned in his
16seven years of Scouting, Micah helped to remodel the Galilee Baptist Church pantry, and
17also singlehandedly conducted a nonperishable food drive where he collected enough items
18to completely fill the pantry; and
19 WHEREAS, only a small percentage of Boy Scouts attain the Eagle Scout rank; it
20takes a uniquely motivated man to achieve the five important responsibilities of an Eagle

1Scout, which are honor, loyalty, courage, cheer, and service to God and country, and Micah
2Samari Miller embodies these ideals; and
3 WHEREAS, presented with his Eagle Scout badge, Micah Samari Minter joins the
4ranks of such esteemed and respected Eagle Scouts as the Honorable Gerald R. Ford, the
5thirty-eighth president of the United States; Captain James Lovell, the commander of the
6Apollo 13 space flight; Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon; acclaimed
7filmmaker Steven Spielberg; and Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft; and
8 WHEREAS, the legacy for the Boy Scouts of America is indeed a rich one, for it not
9only includes a history of service and proud citizenship which spans a century, but it also
10includes the history of service and singular accomplishments of Micah Samari Minter, a
11young man to be recognized and commended by future Eagle Scouts and his community for
12the deep human values and genuine spirit of good fellowship that he inspires.
13 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
14Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and honor Micah Samari Minter on the
15historic occasion of his attainment to the rank of Eagle Scout; does hereby express utmost
16gratitude and respect for the exemplary strides he has taken as a Scout and a citizen; does
17hereby congratulate Micah Samari Minter and the members and leaders of Troop 301 as they
18commemorate the significant event of Mr. Minter's pledge of eternal loyalty to the code of
19the Eagle Scout; and does hereby extend best wishes to Micah Samari Minter for full
20measures and happiness and success in all of his future endeavors.
21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
22to Micah Samari Minter.
