COMMENDATIONS: Commends the University Laboratory School boys' tennis team
upon winning the Division III state championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the University Laboratory School boys' tennis team upon winning the Division
3 III state championship.
4 WHEREAS, the University Laboratory School boys' tennis team fiercely competed
5at the regional and state levels; and
6 WHEREAS, the Cubs won the Division III team title at the Allstate Sugar
7Bowl/Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Tennis Tournament in Monroe on
8April 29; and
9 WHEREAS, the Cubs finished with 10.5 points and won the boys title ahead of
10Lusher Charter School with 8.5 and Holy Savior Menard Central High School with 7.5; and
11 WHEREAS, in addition to the state team championship, the University Laboratory
12School boys' doubles team of Carter Crutti and Robert McDuff advanced to the semifinals,
13and, in the singles competition, Nelson Stafford was the runner-up; and
14 WHEREAS, all of the team members performed at the highest level of excellence
15throughout the 2016 season, and each of these young men deserves recognition for his vital
16contributions to the winning effort; and
17 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
18without the guidance and skills of head tennis coach Donna McCarthy; and
19 WHEREAS, through its display of good sportsmanship and dedication to excellence,
20the University Laboratory School boys' tennis team has brought a tremendous sense of honor
21and pride to its school and community and upholds the glorious tradition of the Cubs.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the University Laboratory School boys'
3tennis team upon winning the 2016 Division III state championship and does hereby
4congratulate the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine tennis program as
5they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
7to head tennis coach Donna McCarthy.
