ENROLLED 2016 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 18 BY REPRESENTATIVE WHITE A RESOLUTION To commend Joiya Smith upon being crowned Miss Grambling State University 2015-2016. WHEREAS, Joiya Smith is a native of Bogalusa and a 2012 honor graduate of Bogalusa High School; she is the daughter of Veronica Adams Smith and Robert Smith; and WHEREAS, Miss Smith is an art major at Grambling State University; she is an active member of the Alpha Gamma Art Guild, the Favrot Student Union Board, the Tiger Dolls of the Grambling State University football team, and was elected as the 2013-2014 Miss Sophomore; and WHEREAS, she also served as vice president of her junior class, president of The Society of Distinguished Black Women, Inc., and as an ambassador of the Grambling State University Thurgood Marshall College Fund; and WHEREAS, Miss Smith was given the opportunity to help create Grambling State University's latest statue, Eddie the Tiger; and WHEREAS, Miss Smith holds the honor of being the sixty-second Miss Grambling State University; and WHEREAS, Joiya Smith, Miss Grambling State University 2015-2016, merits a sincere measure of commendation for the pride and honor she brings to her family and friends, to Grambling State University, to the city of Bogalusa, and to the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Joiya Smith upon being crowned Miss Grambling State University 2015-2016 and does hereby extend to Miss Smith best wishes for success and happiness in her future endeavors.
