BY REPRESENTATIVES BROADWATER AND BERTHELOT
SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Commends the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association
and designates May 24, 2016, as Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association Day at the
state capitol
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the members of the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association for their dedicated
3 hard work on behalf of the athletes of Louisiana and to designate May 24, 2016, as
4 Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association Day at the state capitol.
5 WHEREAS, Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association (LATA) members are skilled
6healthcare professionals trained in the prevention, emergency management, evaluation, and
7therapeutic intervention of sports-related injuries and conditions; and
8 WHEREAS, the mission statement of the national association is to represent, engage,
9and foster the continued growth and development of the athletic training profession and
10athletic trainers as unique healthcare providers; and
11 WHEREAS, athletic training is an allied healthcare profession recognized by the
12American Medical Association, and certification in the profession requires strict educational
13standards based on specific knowledge and skills; certified athletic trainers have a long
14history of providing quality healthcare for athletes and individuals engaged in physical
15activity; and
16 WHEREAS, the hard work of the men and women of LATA has allowed citizens of
17Louisiana to participate in meaningful and rewarding athletic competitions throughout the
18state and nation.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the Louisiana Athletic

1Trainers Association for their outstanding achievements; does hereby recognize and record
2for posterity their unwavering commitment to excellence in service to the citizens of the
3state; does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor they bring to
4Louisiana; and does hereby designate May 24, 2016, as LATA Day at the state capitol.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
6to Gerard White, LATA president.
