COMMENDATIONS: Commends the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth
Leadership seminars and designates June 1, 2016, as Hugh O'Brian Youth
Leadership Day
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership seminars and
3 to designate Wednesday, June 1, 2016, as Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Day.
4 WHEREAS, Hugh O'Brian, the Hollywood star who portrayed Wyatt Earp in the
5television series "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp", founded the Hugh O'Brian Youth
6Leadership Foundation in 1958; and
7 WHEREAS, the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Foundation, also known as HOBY,
8organizes and promotes annual leadership seminars for thousands of high school sophomores
9throughout the United States and abroad; and
10 WHEREAS, the objectives of the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program are to
11seek out, recognize, develop, and reward leadership potential in high school students, to
12encourage and assist young people in their quests for self-identification and self-
13development, to host workshops for young people with recognized leaders in business,
14industry, government, science, and education, and to stimulate opportunities for young
15people to demonstrate their leadership abilities for the benefit of their communities and their
16country; and
17 WHEREAS, to date, more than four hundred seventy-five thousand students have
18completed the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership program and the 2016 Louisiana Hugh
19O'Brian Youth Leadership seminar is scheduled for Friday, June 10, 2016, through Sunday,
20June 12, 2016.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the organizers of the Louisiana Hugh
3O'Brian Youth Leadership seminars and does hereby designate Wednesday, June 1, 2016,
4as Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Day.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
6to Cindy Bishop, chairperson of the Louisiana HOBY Leadership Seminar, Nial Patel,
7corporate board chairman, and to Hugh O'Brian, who celebrated ninety-one years of age on
8April 19, 2016.
